Using databases with Herd

Herd ships with PHP support for all major databases. This includes MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis and SQLite. However, Herd does not come with built-in database servers.

If your application needs a database, there is a great tool for managing MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Redis that you should check out: DBngine. DBngin is a free all-in-one database version management tool without dependencies, and it's provided by the folks of TablePlus.

DBngine pairs perfectly with Herd and you can download it for free at the official website.

After DBngin has been installed, you can connect to your database at 127.0.0.1 using the root username and an empty string for the password.
